Samsung announces a new high speed compact camera on the eve of PMA 2010. The TL350 offers 1080p HD video recording, full-res bursts up to 10 fps, and slow speed movie recording at 1,000 fps. The 10.2 megapixel CMOS sensor is backed up by a re-vamped DRIMeIII image processor.
The TL350 enters high-speed territory that Casio enjoys a healthy head-start in. The TL350 will record full 1080p HD video at 30 fps. From there, users can step resolution down to boost speed to 60 fps at 720p all the way up to a maximum of 1000 fps at 138x78.
Beyond speed capabilities, the TL350 boasts a 24mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens. It will offer manual exposure modes in addition to Samsung's Smart Auto 2.0 shooting mode. The back panel offers a 3.0 inch AMOLED monitor for framing those high speed videos. A small area has been carved out of the back panel to provide a thumbrest.
Samsung also touts the TL350 for its new Dual Capture capability - a feature that will allow the user to record full-res still images while recording video. Also included is a mode called Advanced Panorama Shot with Object Tracking and dual image stabilization. Advanced users will enjoy RAW support, while beginners will appreciate features like Face Recognition and Samsung's Perfect Portrait system.
Pricing and availability
If you need speed, look for the Samsung TL350 to become available in spring of 2010. It will retail for $349.99.
