Fujifilm announces the FinePix F80EXR today, updating their F70EXR with 720p HD video capture and a larger LCD. Like the F70EXR, it combines a 10x optical zoom range with their Super CCD EXR sensor in a 22.9mm-slim camera body. The FinePix F80EXR adds more pixels to the CCD sensor - an increase from 10 to 12 megapixels from the F70EXR. The 10x optical Fujinon lens offers a 27-270mm zoom range, the same coverage that the F70EXR offered.

Fujifilm adds HD video capture to the F80EXR. It will shoot 720p HD videos, and those with HD home entertainment systems will be able to utilize the camera's mini HDMI port. The Super EXR system is backed up with a sensor-shift and digital image stabilization combo. The back panel sports a 3.0 inch LCD monitor with a 230k-dot resolution.

The F80EXR, along with several new models announced today, will host face detection and pet detection technology. According to Fujifilm, pet detection uses a database within the camera of top cat and dog breeds and matches it to the pet being photographed. Pet detection will optimize focus and exposure based on the breed.

Pricing and availability
Look for the F80EXR to become available in April 2010 debuting with a $299.95 price tag.
